Galleries

A Gallery is collection of images that you want users to be able view in a single presentation. An image can belong to more than one gallery.

Creating a Gallery

Go to the Picture Manager, click on New Gallery in the top bar.

Title

The title of the gallery.

Keywords

For future schemes, not currently doing anything.

Caption

Use this if you want something other than "View gallery_title" to appear under the gallery's main image link.

Introduction

Any intro text you want to appear above the gallery's grid of thumbnails.

Thumbnail ID

The inline image that will be a link to the Gallery itself.

Thumbnails View

show all on every page

When users are looking at the large version of an image, thumbnails for every other image in that Gallery will appear below.

show just previous and next

When users are looking at a large version of an image, thumbnails for the previous and next images in the Gallery appear below.

Adding Images to a Gallery

Search the Picture Manager for an image that you want to include in the Gallery. Handy tip: Just click go, without entering any search terms, to show all of your images.

At the top of the list of found images is an option list, labelled 'Choose a Gallery' for your convenience. This lists the titles of all of the Galleries you have created. Choose a Gallery and click Go.

The page will reload, and above the Gallery option list you'll see a line telling you which Gallery is currently active. To the right of each of the images on you list you'll also now see a button labelled Add to Gallery. Clicking this will add the image to the currently active Gallery.

Editing a Gallery

Click on Galleries in the top bar to see a list of all of your Galleries. Choose the Gallery you wish to edit.

Below the title/intro form, you'll see a list of images that you've added. Click Remove from Gallery to remove an image (this just removes the image from the Gallery, it doesn't delete the image itself).

The position field allows you to set the order in which the images are displayed.

Using Galleries

Inline

In a page's Content, insert

[gallery="x"]

This will display the Gallery's ID image, with the caption "View gallery_title". Clicking on the image will take users to a new page showing any intro text and the thumbnails of all the images in the gallery...

Inline gallery links behave just like other inline images.

Gallery Grid

You can include a gallery's grid of thumbnails in any of your pages using the following:

[gallerygrid:x]

Users can click on any of these thumbnail images to see a larger version.

nb; gallerygrid is a Page Object Include (affectionately known by us as Poincs). Poincs use a different syntax to things like inline images and file downloads; = is replaced by a colon, and there are no speech marks required...
