Restricting Access to Sections

Weblobe allows you to set up a section of your site whose pages are only accessible to users with an appropriate password.

When you restrict access section the public will be able to the initial (index) page of that section, but will be required to enter a valid username and password to see pages under the section.

Restricting a Section:

If you click on site in the Admin Sections, and choose Sections from you'll see a list of the sections that your site contains, and the options that you can set for each of them. Among these options is a set of choices marked Restrictions.

By default, every sections' Restrictions are set to None. This means that anyone can read the pages contained within the section. Which is rather the point of having a website, after all.

If you want to restrict access to a section, you have two options:

Customers

If you select Customers then anyone who has registered their details in the process of buying something from your site can use their password to gain access to all of the pages you put in this restricted section. No one else will be able to see these pages.

This is very useful if you have things like instructions or technical support documents available to just your customers.

Site Users

Selecting this allows you to decide exactly who you want to be able to access each page you create within this section. You can manually create accounts for anyone you want to be able to access these pages.

Obviously once you've restricted a section to Site Users you'll be wanting to set-up some users...
